Strata Hops

Strata: formerly known as X-331, is the first hop variety released from Indie Hops’ breeding program. Born in 2009 from an open-pollinated Perle at Oregon State University, Strata quickly stood out for its vigorous growth, strong disease resistance, and complex aroma profile. Expect layers of tropical fruit, grapefruit, cannabis-like dankness, passion fruit, and strawberry. It’s versatile enough for IPAs, Pale Ales, and even lagers, offering unique flavors whether used alone or in blends.

Background

Developed through a collaboration between Indie Hops and Oregon State University, Strata was the standout among tens of thousands of genotypes. Released commercially in 2018, it has since become a favorite for its unique combination of fruit-forward flavors and dank herbal notes. Strata’s versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of beer styles, and it performs exceptionally well in both late boil and dry hop additions.
