First released in 2003, Uigeadail is named after the Islay loch supplying the distillerys water. It is matured in a mix of ex-bourbon barrels and older ex-sherry casks, then bottled at traditional strength (54.2% ABV) and non-chill-filtered to preserve maximum flavor and viscosity.
Aromatics open with heady, smoky peatthink tar, char, and creosotebalanced by sherry-rich sweetness: Christmas cake, chocolate-coated raisins, walnut oil, and Parma violets. Hints of ocean spray, pine needles, and oiled leather add depth and intrigue. Water opens up more meaty smoke and briny seaweed notes.
Full-bodied and oily in texture, the palate presents bold peat smoke, followed by raisiny fruit jam, brown sugar, and winter spices. Notes of mocha espresso, salted smoked meats, and burnt citrus peel intermingle with briny sensations and toasted grain.
The finish is long, chewy, and resonantcarrying forward the tobaccodark fruitpeat interplay with lingering bitterness, smoky licorice, and saline undertones that fade slowly.
