Dudognon Heritage 40-Year-Old Cognac is a masterful expression of Grande Champagne terroir and extended agingelegant, layered, and remarkably refined. With four decades in Limousin oak and zero additives, it delivers tropical-fruit brightness, noble rancio, and seamless oak spice without heaviness, making it a benchmark for old-school grower cognac at its best.
Produced in LigniresSonneville by the Camut family (since 1776) strictly from estate-grown Ugni Blanc vines in the Grande Champagne cru.
Distilled in alembic pot stills fired with wood/charcoal, then aged up to 40 years in seasoned Limousin oak barrels. No added sugar, caramel coloring, or fining agents everensuring purity and clarity.
Opens with luxurious and aromatic notes: French vanilla, violet florals, tropical marmalade, and rich toffee. A refined layer of noble rancio brings toasted almond and mushroom-edge nuance, while hints of salted sea air add bracing balance.
Medium- to full-bodied and viscous: honeyed sweetness leads with crme brle, toasted coconut, exotic fruit, and chocolate-toned richness. Tropical fruitpear, peach, kiwiemerges alongside concentrated rancio savouriness.
The finish is long, inviting, and balancedboasting citrus peel, lightly burnt walnut, oak spice, and final touches of toasted coconut or almond. The sweetness remains noticeable but never cloying.
Distiller.com reviewers rate it highly (~99 points) for its balance of fruit and rancio, describing it as a world-class cognac for lovers of grace and beauty.
Tasting notes from Randy Brandy mention vivid descriptors like gummy worms, apricot, kiwi, and no bitterness despite its age.
