O.F.C. Vintage 2006 is a standout expression of aged Kentucky bourbon powerful, nuanced, and deeply reflective of cask time. With nearly two decades of maturation, this release offers a rare convergence of oak maturity, dark fruit, and refined sweetness. Its a collectors trophy and a contemplative sipper all in one.
O.F.C. (Old Fashioned Copper) is Buffalo Trace Distillerys ultra-luxury, vintage-dated bourbon line that honors a historic name once used by Col. E. H. Taylor.
Each vintage in the O.F.C. series is wholly distilled in a single year, with the barrels selected for exceptional longevity and character.
The 2006 release was distilled in that year and aged approximately 18 years in American white oak barrels before bottling at 90 proof (45% ABV).
It is presented in a hand-cut crystal decanter, often housed in a wooden display box, underscoring its collectible and premium status.
Nose:
Deep aromas of dark cherry, rich caramel, vanilla bean, and antique oak, layered with leather, tobacco leaf, and hints of dried fig or raisin.
Palate:
Silky and evolved dark chocolate, toasted nuts, cinnamon, aged leather, brown sugar, and seasoned oak interplay. Theres a restrained fruit sweetness (dried cherry, prune) and an earthy, almost spicy backbone.
Finish:
Long, warming, and elegant. The oak remains present without being harsh, giving lingering notes of cocoa, leather, molasses, and soft spice that slowly fade.
Dark chocolate or truffles, especially 70%+ cacao
Smoked game meats like venison or wild boar
Aged cheeses mature Gouda, Pecorino, or aged Manchego
Cigar pairing medium-body cigars with earthy, leather notes
