Donnafugata’s ‘Ben Ry’ wine has long been one our all-time favorite dessert wines, every since we had the opportunity to taste it while dining in Pisa. It is made from Muscat grapes that were to dry in the sun on straw mats on the island of Pantelleria, south of Sicily (in fact the islandis closer to Africa than to Sicily). The result are intense flavors of dried apricot and nectarine and peach that make this the perfect wine with cheeses, creme brule, and chocolate desserts.
