Gold Medal World Whisky Masters 2011 Sullivans Cove Double Cask is an eleven year old malt aged in both French and American oak. The result is a single malt that is redolent of Lowland and lighter, Highland whisky. Although not inexpensive, when compared to similar, domestic micro-distillery products this whisky comes in at a competitive price, specially considering how far it has traveled! Nose: Vanilla driven perfume, floral fruit, soft spice and cloves. Palate: Soft, creamy, well structured and balanced. Herbal, then some spices and honey. English candy notes and a hint of pear. Finish: Well-rounded fruity finish of a medium length with hints of honey and milk chocolate.

Critic tasting note: “A bright golden whisky with a nose like a basket of fruits: green apple, honeydew, clementine, and pastries. Made from Tasmanian barley and matured in bourbon and French oak barrels, the fruity palate follows the journey begun with the nose, though with greater emphasis on citrus than apple. Layer upon layer of peppery spice overlay some sour fruits, ending on a finish of grapefruit sourness. (950 bottles)” – Whisky Advocate
